The wide-eyed Parisian Janis began her American journey with a move to New York in 2012. The New School degree in hand, Janis found herself back in France for six months awaiting an American visa, freeing up her time to rekindle a love for a craft she had learned as a child: hand embroidery.
An overwhelming need to revamp her wardrobe without buying new clothes led to the creation of Janis Embroidery, where she was able to “tattoo” her clothes and give them new life. After realizing its potential as a business, Janis parted ways with her career in film and television to pursue the venture.
Janis has collaborated with many global brands such as Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys New York, Levi’s, Sandro, Maje, Everlane, The Frankie Shop and Agnès B. Her unique craft and witty designs have been featured in Vogue, ELLE, Glamour, Numéro and more.
Following the success of Janis Embroidery, Janis sought a new avenue for her design talents and entrepreneurial expertise: Janis Studios.
